Awarded to R. Bates & Sons for their outstanding performance while constructing 480 linear feet of streambank protection for the N. Nashua River in Leominster, Massachusetts. R. Bates & Sons accomplished all sitework in only eighteen work days between July 14 and August 14, 1996. The project, which was needed to protect the city of Leominster’s two sewage treatment plant outfalls from erosion which

had been cutting into the riverbank from which they protrude, was a great success. In addition to their outstanding work, R. Bates & Sons has professional, knowledgeable, and dedicated employees. R. Bates and Sons’ performance reflects dedication and integrity, and has contributed significantly to the ability of the New England Division (Corps of Engineers) to accomplish its mission.
